Getting ready for autumn

Following the rather distressing felting incident with my Rose Red I knew I'd need another hat for autumn and winter.

I decided on another Ysolda pattern, Gretel using some Malabrigo Worsted from my stash. I apologise for the hastily taken camera phone picture but so far the knit is going well and very quickly. I've not had a great deal of knitting time lately but I'm already on the decreases and loving how it's coming out. It will keep my head snuggly warm right through winter...providing I don't stupidly felt it!

I'm hoping this will turn from a WIP into an FO very soon.

I felt silly at first thinking of autumn and winter in August but it was chilly and wet this morning so I know it will be upon us soon enough. I will not deny the fact I'm looking forward to wrapping myself up in handknits which is rather unappealing in the summer!

  2. Nice hat - I'd like to knit myself a beret this year. And it's decidedly autumnal here this morning too!

  8. You're right on time to be knitting for fall and winter. I usually get in the mood too late and then don't finish things in time to use them that season. The yarn and pattern seem like a perfect match!

  9. I hope that you manage to get it done up! I am looking forward to visiting America in Nov, so I can use some of my woolies myself. I live in a tropical country and so I usually have to stick to summer wear all year!

Love that yellow by the way and the pattern is cute - which is saying a lot cause I'm not a fan of yellow tones usually.

    Good luck with it!

  10. The new hat looks very pretty . Nice choice of colour , it really shows off the pattern .

I'm always ready for a change of season by the time August rolls around . Summers' high heat and humidity don't do it for me . Happy knitting !

  12. Your new hat looks great. I love the cabling.

I've been thinking about winter since July. I'm quite tired of the triple digits temps of the desert.
